Half bath mood board

I'm glad to have finally gotten around to making a mood board for the half bath.I haven't done any major projects in a while so doing this will definitely give me more of an idea whether I can continue working on DIY home projects and blog about it. I have liked gray walls with the white trim paint on rooms and I wanted the pop of colors of yellow and turquoise.

1. I found that light fixture from home depot for less than $75. Joe will be installing this for me and we are both crossing our fingers that we can figure out how to do this because we truly are newbies at this.

2. The basis of my color palette actually stemmed from this piece of artwork. I have previously painted this piece at one of those bring your wine and paint classes with one of my friends. This cost me $35 and had a butt load of fun.   I'm not much of a painter but I guess I'm pretty good at following directions to have it come out looking like peacock feathers...or so I hope you see it like that.

3. Adding a plant in the bathroom has always been something I have done to make the room somewhat look lively. Although I haven't had much luck with my last bamboo plant, I have kept a few indoor plants alive so I have high hopes that the plant fairy will be on my side once I add this plant in there.

4. I'm really digging the simplicity of the old vanity mirror I have in hand. Maybe I'll have a change of heart later, but for now, I really like the clean white straight lines of that piece.

5. The only thing I will be changing on my old pedestal sink is the faucet. As you can see, the pedestal sink I have now used to be gold and the previous owners have decided to spray paint it silver so its now peeling.

6. To add a pop of colors into the room, I have decided to add that turquoise soap plate and dispenser. Those two are less than $16 in amazon but I will definitely search for something cheaper.

7. Etsy is my new favorite store. The turquoise and yellow bird print hand towel with a gray base background definitely fits well in the room. I've also found a new love for bird prints and bird ceramic decor even though I'm not really a big fan of live birds.

8. Incorporating a different texture and tone to the room was another one of my goals to not look so matchy-matchy. I have liked the idea of turning that basket into a trash can or a magazine holder. I haven't completely decided yet and I'm also searching for something similar that's more affordable.

A non-home related post for my 26th birthday

This post is a little snapshot of my personal life. I work as a CCU nurse at night which is great for giving me enough time off in hand since I work three twelve hour shifts a week. The problem about working night shift though, and being a nurse alone, is that you develop a dysfunctional sleep pattern. I have once read that it shaves off 8 extra living years of your life as well. Often times, I think that extra few dollars I earn for staying on the dark side(night shift) is not worth it and that I would love to be normal again, but I have gotten too comfortable and enjoy the people I work with to really make a major move. With that said I've only had 12 hrs of sleep in the last 60 hours..
Enough of that, I am now officially 26. Twenty five passed by quickly that it's just been a big blur. There has been a lot of changes after turning 25, but they definitely all have one thing in common, best adventure yet. My thoughts and views have changed and swayed more from being a complete advocate to loving the solitary life to being absolutely sold out to the idea of, "life's best moments are those shared with the ones you love." Although I see the joy I have gained from finding someone, I will forever hold my stand of the importance of being established and completely in love with being a self sufficient/independent woman before committing to any kind of relationship.
Anyway, so much for all that life cheesiness.. Twenty five was an eventful year indeed. Aside from starting to seriously date my southern man Joe, and gaining a little mutt dog Bella, I went on many road trips. To name a few, I went to Pensacola beach, Dayton, Mississippi(to meet his fam), and New Orleans for a Caribbean cruise. But the biggest trip of my life yet is accomplishing my long time dream of exploring Europe on my own. It may not be for some, but this had been one of the biggest accomplishments in my life, yes the checked off the bucket list kind of thing.
It's true, you value the most minute thing when you work extra hard for it. The days of working extra shifts are long over for me now. Nine months working 4 nights a week in the CCU was getting a little rough, but having a good amount of money saved up that held me over for the not-so cheap three week-European experience was worth all that hard work.
I intend to make separate posts for each of the places I have visited at some point. That is one of the many reasons why I started up a new blog, to share ideas and tips, and of course to have an outlet of the million other things that goes through my head. Also, I have had a few complaints about my Facebook updates that it is too much about food, home, and travel. Most would probably brush off the snide remarks people make but for me, since I do flood their status updates. I decided it would be more prudent to have my own space in the world of internet, hence my new blog.

Birthday week... Half bath redo as my birthday present.

My birthday is coming up in a few days. With that said, a week ago, I went on  a crazy shopping spree. My biggest purchase yet is my iPad. I have been contemplating about this purchase for a good 2 years now. Why did it take me that long to make the purchase? well lets just say that I get the buyers remorse when I buy something big(anything more than $200) without thoroughly thinking about it so it takes me a good while before making any kind of big purchase.
The Internet world is a place I could get lost in for hours at a time... I have a regular PC and an iPhone but I've been itching on the idea of getting a device that will make my Internet exploring easier. Although most people may say iPad is just a big iPhone, I really like the size of it and so far has definitely enjoyed my online browsing with its bigger screen than the iPhone and I like how much lighter it is to carry around than my regular PC. Hopefully this will make my blogging easier too. I guess we'll find out...
I have a lot of projects I want to do around my home and start sharing on this blog, unfortunately I don't see myself getting started till a couple of weeks from now with how my schedule is looking with work and well, just life in general.
First thing I want to tackle is my half bath on the main floor. I'm hoping to finish this project by the end of march as this will be my birthday present for myself that is home related. This is how it is looking right now.... I'll post a mood board later.

The start of something new...

I've been toying with the idea of starting up a fresh new blog but as always, my indecisiveness and procrastinator trait got the best of me. I'm writing my first post after months of indecision of what my new blog should be titled and what it would entail.
I actually have a few other blogs from years ago that is definitely not for the public view. Let's just say that having just moved from the Philippines to America in 2002 as a teen with English being my second language definitely reflected on the way I blogged. The move from a small province in the Phil to the liberated country of America was such a culture shock that not only it made my hair fall out(literally), I also used the blog as my therapist, the place I wrote everything without a filter. Although my writing skills is not the best yet, living in America for 10+ years has helped me out to finally form a full sentence that doesn't have a ridiculous amount of spelling and grammatical errors. Also, I finally know most slang("what's up?"doesn't mean look up at the ceiling and tell me whats there), and has developed a filter these days...
So with that said, here's my fresh new take on life. My niche if you may ask... my life in the south with a Filipino twist. I will be sharing the love i have for everything about home, food, travels, and everything in between.
